Career Opportunities

Completing the boom-type EWP course is an important step toward employment in the construction, infrastructure, shutdown, and maintenance sectors. With your WP class high risk work licence, you can work in roles such as:

  • EWP operator on commercial or civil construction sites.
  • Shutdown or maintenance crew member on industrial projects.
  • Telecommunications or signage installer.
  • Elevated access technician for cleaning, electrical, or mechanical services.

A boom-type EWP licence is also commonly required for FIFO, mining, and infrastructure works, making it a valuable ticket for those seeking reliable, long-term employment in high-risk or elevated work environments.

Workplace Implementation

Holding a valid WP High Risk Work Licence ensures your workers can legally and safely operate boom-type elevating work platforms over 11 metres in compliance with WorkSafe WA and national WHS regulations.

Trained operators are equipped to:

  • Conduct pre-start checks and identify equipment faults.
  • Operate boom lifts at height in a range of site conditions.
  • Use harnesses and fall protection systems correctly.
  • Navigate elevated work areas around structures, services, and other workers.
  • Respond to emergency descent situations and apply site-specific rescue procedures.

Employing licensed EWP operators reduces the risk of incidents and ensures your project meets compliance requirements—particularly on construction sites, shutdowns, and major infrastructure works where elevated access is routine.
